Day Six: Paradise

Waking up to the seagulls walking around the top of my motor home was a bit of a surprise, but I was eager to get up so they were forgiven.

Depending on the month you visit coral bay will determine the activities available to do. I was pretty fortune to visit at a time where even though the busy season was coming to a halt there where still a few things to do.

Due to its remote location Coral Bay offers some of the most pristine experiences but be warned unless you wish to spend the whole time on the beach swimming and snorkeling in the shallow waters be prepared for the costs of being able to do any of the below activities.

Just a few of the activities on offer are

  • Diving & Snorkeling with Whale Sharks or Manta Rays (depending on the season)
  • Whale Watching (Season June to November)
  • Snorkel Hire
  • Quad Bike Tour
  • Dune Buggy Tours
  • Glass Bottom boat tours
  • Sea Scooter Tours on the reef
  • Paddle Boarding
  • Kayaking
  • Deep Sea Fishing
  • Catamaran Sailing tours
  • Sand Boarding
  • Scenic Flights

After having gone to every tourist place in town and collecting all the brochures and getting prices it was time to decide what i was going to do that day.

After a few agonising hours (I am not good at making quick decisions) I choose to do the Quad Trek.

Dune Buggy

After hoping on the quad bikes (BTW no experience necessary) it was off through the sandy dunes till we stopped at Turtle Cliffs to see if we could spot some turtles in the waters below.

We did find a few and also saw some baby hawks in a nest on the side of the cliffs.

Coral Bay 1w

After having a stretch and a bit of sight-seeing it was back on the bikes to head to the beach for a snorkel at Five Finger reef. Surprisingly this was the first time I have snorkeled in a very long time but i was up for the challenge. Lucky the water was quite calm and warm so i enjoyed my time swimming through the reef and discovering all the sea life around. After a quick dry off it was back to the quad bikes and back to coral bay.

I decide to have dinner at Fin’s Cafe which is located in front of the Peoples Park Caravan Park. They offer a good selection of every thing from fish and chips to a good steak.

After dinner it was time to rest up for tomorrows adventures.
